Description:

Technology Description
ORCF-101, Soft White Winter Wheat w/ Herbicide Resistance Trait ORCF-101 is best adapted to dryland regions of Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam, and Morrow counties in Oregon (blue areas). Secondary areas of adaption (red regions) are the dryland areas of eastern Oregon and southeastern Washington.

ORCF-101 is a cross between FS-4, Malcolm, Stephens, and Madsen. It is an awned, medium statured, semi-dwarf variety with midseason maturity and high yield potential. The maturity, adaption, and test weight is that compared to ‘Stephens’. ORCF-101 also has excellent emergence and performance from near-optimal seeding dates. A reselection of the variety done in 2010 improved stripe rust resistance, end use quality, uniformity, and additional yield potential.

Features & Benefits

Background of Invention
ORCF-101 Soft White Winter Wheat was developed in cooperation with BASF Corporation and USDA-ARS. When ORCF-101 is used in combination with Beyond® or Clearmax® at labeled rates. CLEARFIELD® technology provides growers with an effective tool for the control of several grassy weeds. ORCF-101 is a traditionally bred (not genetically modified) wheat variety that carries an altered form of the acetolactate synthase enzyme. The altered enzyme is not affected by imazamox, the active ingredient in Beyond® herbicide and one of the active ingredients in Clearmax® herbicide.
